ICLIS 2025
The Sri Lanka Library Association (SLLA), in collaboration with the Library System of the University of Peradeniya, is proud to organize the International Conference on Library and Information Science (ICLIS) 2025. The National Science Foundation (NSF) joins as a key partner in this important event, which brings together professionals, researchers, and experts in the field of Library and Information Science (LIS) to share knowledge, explore innovative ideas, and discuss the latest advancements.
The National Science Library and Resource Centre (NSLRC) of the NSF, as the focal point for the Sri Lanka Science and Technology Information Network (SLSTINET), is facilitating the development of SLSTINET library services. ICLIS 2025 will be a valuable opportunity for SLSTINET member institutions to gain insights from both local and international experts and to build meaningful connections with global LIS professionals.
Traditionally, ICLIS has emphasized high-quality research conducted in English. However, recognizing the importance of inclusivity and accessibility, ICLIS 2025 welcomes submissions in Sinhala and Tamil, accompanied by English-translated abstracts. This initiative aims to encourage greater participation from academic, public, special, and school libraries, ensuring that the voices and experiences of all library professionals are represented in national and international research conversations.
To bridge existing research gaps and cultivate a strong research culture, ICLIS 2025 will place special emphasis on state-sector libraries and government library professionals. The conference will also include activities across multiple locations, making it more accessible and inclusive. While the quality of initial contributions may vary, this effort marks a significant step toward fostering long-term research engagement within the LIS community.
Stay tuned for more updates on ICLIS 2025—a platform to connect, collaborate, and innovate for the future of libraries in Sri Lanka and beyond.
